Rock Scene Magazine; September 1978

Rock Scene was a music magazine from New York City in the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. It is mostly a photo magazine that covered mainly the New York City music scene but not exclusively. All the New York bands you've heard of and some you've never heard of got their photos in Rock Scene. Plus in the late 1970s many Punk bands around the world also had their photos in the mag. There is some text but not much. It's a very interesting magazine.

In this issue: Destroy All Monsters, Lou Reed, Ramones, David Johansen, Patti Smith, David Bowie, Bob Marley, Blessed, Shrapnel, Tuff Darts, Jam, Criminals, B-Girls, Richard Hell, Erasers, Sonic's Rendezvous Band, Kraftwerk, Blondie, Dictators, Suicide, Lubricants and much more.

X Ray Spex - Brighton 1978 + Rockworld 1979

The Brighton show was requested by walkinghometo50. It's an audience recording so is rough but listenable. In the late 1970s there was a music program on US television called Rockworld that was on Friday late evenings. The show rarely ever had anyone good on but one night in 1979 they had the X Ray Spex on. I tapes this using a portable tape recorded set next to the tv speaker so it's not a perfect recording but still listenable enough.

Disorder/Mulch - Live 1986

Disorder you should all know. Their show was a radio broadcast and the sound quality is very good. In 1987 some friends and I made a fanzine and with one issue we made a cassette compilation title Pass The Elixer. These four Disorder tracks are on it. The person who sent me this tape included the Mulch live recording but did not send any other information about it. So I don't really know what it is and I could not find any info about the band on the internet. Can anyone help? The recording is either a radio broadcast or a soundboard recording and the sound quality is very good. If you like Disorder you'll like Mulch. Similar sound.

But their singer was the original singer for The Slinkees in 1979 who changed their name to the Teen Idles when he departed. This show was recorded through the soundboard and the sound quality is very good. However, the vocals are low down in the mix so all the songs sound like instrumentals.

In 1982 Maximum Rock 'n' Roll magazine released a compilation album that featured then current band from Northern California and Nevada. Most of the bands on it recorded demos and either released a 7" or nothing else at all. One song from the Intensified Chaos demo and the Church Police demo were on that album and some of the between song chatter from the Naked Lady Wrestlers show was also on the album. Sound quality on the demos is very good. The Naked Lady Wrestlers show was recorded through the soundboard and is very good sound quality. Does anyone have the Naked Lady Wrestlers demo???

XL Capris - Live 1981

XL Capris were from Sydney Australia and existed between 1978 and 1982. They released two albums and several 7"s in that time. One of their songs was comped on the KBD like series Back To Front. I don't think any of their other songs would really appeal to the KBD crowd but they are good. Both these shows are radio recordings and the sound quality is very good.

Life But How To Live It - Rehearsal/DemoLive 1988

From Oslo Norway. The band started when two members of Barn Av Regnbuen moved from their hometown of Harstadt Norway to Oslo. There they found a new drummer, added a singer and changed the name of the band to Life But How To Live It. They also wrote all new songs. Sound quality on everything is very good. The live show was recorded through the soundboard and was their third or fourth ever live show.

Back!!

A month ago this blog was removed by Blogger for spamming. Of course, I wasn't spamming and requested a review. After waiting a month Noise Addiction has finally been reviewed and restored.

Over the last month I have been busy digitizing tapes so I have a big backlog of shows and demos to up. Keep your eyes on it daily.
