Update: Gas/Turbo Hy Dramatics

A few weeks ago I made two posts about records I was looking for. Lew from England supplied a very good digitized copy of the Gas Emotional Warfare LP. I've added their first single and the b-sides from the 2nd and 4th singles and posted the lot. Does anyone have their 3rd and 5th singles? I need those as well.

My old friend Uli in Germany supplied me with digitized copies of all three Turbo Hy Dramatics records and I've uploaded links for each of them.

Lixomania - Rio De Janeiro, Brazil 1983

I got this in a CDR trade 7-8 years ago. This show, I think, is officially released on the Japanese Violência & Sobrevivência CD release/re-release. I think my version has one or two extra songs but I'm not certain since the CD is impossible to find. This show is a soundboard recording and the sound quality is very good.

V.A. English Compilation Live & Studio

Back in 1985 I had a friend in Newcastle England who made this mix tape for me. He didn't supply much information other than to note if the tracks were live, demos or practices so I can't give that info. The Mob songs are from their Ching demo . Part 1 of the Apostles song was released on their 5th ep Smash The Spectacle. Part 2 was on the Mortarhate compilation LP We Don't Want Your Fucking Law!. The version here is the complete uncut song. I don't know if it has appeared on one of their many demo tape releases. I believe the Flux Of Pink Indians demos have been officially released. All the live tracks are from audience recordings. Most of the demo tracks are studio recordings. The sound quality ranges from very good to barely good. Some great tracks here, though. It was geat to have it in 1985 because some of these bands I either didn't know at all had heard only a track or two.

Jetboys - Gibus Club, Paris 3-10-89

If you like your music inspired by the New York Dolls and Heartbreakers these Jet Boys are for you. They were from Paris France and existed from 1984 to 1994. In those years they released one LP and several singles. This show was recorded from the audience and the sound quality is good though I digitized this about 8 years ago before I knew what I was doing so it is a bit tinny. Unfortunately, I don't have the cassette any longer.

Public Image LTD - Tower Theater, Philadelphia 4-26-80

This post is a special one for me because this was the first Punk show I ever went to. PIL are not necessarily a Punk band but Johnny Rotten as the singer, and with a former member of the Clash. That was good enough for me. At that time my favorite band was the Sex Pistols but I knew I would never get to see them so this was close enough. Plus, I loved the first two PIL albums. This venue was packed with rowdy Punk rockers and it being my first Punk show was very exciting. At the time I was age 15 and had been listening to and buying Punk records for two years but never had the chance to go to see any bands even though I knew there were many great shows happening. Philadelphia's The Reds were the opening band. I took photos but my PIL photos didn't turn out. This is an audience recording and the sound quality is rough. I'll also post here my saved ticket stub and an article from my hometown newspaper about the concert.

Apostles - Punk Obituary + Extras (1985)

Both shows were recorded from the audience and have good sound quality. The Marquee show has the better sound of the two.

Dagnasty/Descendents - 9:30 Club Washington D.C. 1986

An old friend of mine had this tape in his collection and loaned it to me for the blog. Unfortunately, sometime in the mid-1990s a can of soda pop was accidentally spilled on it. I don't know if that has affected the sound of the tape or not, though. This is an audience recording and is rough sound quality. If you are a Dagnasty or Descendents completest you'll want this. There is no exact date written on the tape but I think it is from early 1986. Has anyone got this information? I've searched the internet but did not find any info about this show (found info for a 12-20-85 show at 9:30 Club). The Descendents set is on the end of the tape and there are only the 5 songs.

Dagnasty setlist: [from cassette]

V.A. Pass The Elixer (1987)

Like a lot of people in the 1980s me and some of my friends made a fanzine. From 1985 until 1987 we printed 10 issues. For issue 9 we made a compilation tape with 90 minutes of solid Punk. Back then, because of different influences and ideas there was a diversity of sounds. And while all these bands are rooted in Punk none of them sound the same. We made our band choices to emphasize that diversity. The most well known band here is Disorder and the most obscure is P.K.G. from Torrence California who only recorded one 5-song demo before exiting. Each band has a full page in the zine. Sound quality is very good. Most of these bands have pages here: http://www.killfromtheheart.com/

If anyone wants to have a tape copy of this compilation for postage costs I still some original covers and booklets that were printed in 1987 and I have vintage 1980s cassettes. Send an email to me.

B.G.K. - Demo 7-87

Here's the final statement from the Netherland's B.G.K. recorded during the summer of 1987. The singer never recorded the vocal parts so this is an unfinished instrumental demo. Had they been finished this might have been what a 3rd B.G.K. album would have sounded like. The sound quality is very good.

Has anyone got this tape? I bought this tape from an ad in Maximum Rock 'n' Roll in 1983 but lost it somewhere over the years and have never been able to find another copy. All I have left is the lyric sheet. It was a great tape full of great songs that got plenty of play on my stereo back in the day. It would be nice to have some mp3s of it.

Gas - Emotional Warfare LP + bonus tracks (1981)

Ten years ago I started digitizing old tapes and one of the first things I ever digitized was an old tape I had since the mid-1980s of the Gas Emotional Warfare LP. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I've been looking for a better ripped copy of this that would be straight off the album but when I've downloaded this from different blogs the rip is always the one I did off my tape and traded around. Has anyone got better rip of this album? Some Youtube videos were made of a few of the songs using a better quality rip. Would be nice to have some great quality mp3s of the whole album.

*** I now have an excellent rip of the album plus all the singles a and b-sides.
