Bernie Tormé & Electric Gypsies - BBC In Concert 11-06-82

How about some New Wave of British Heavy Metal, anyone? All you 1977 Punk lovers should know Bernie Tormé because he had two songs on the Live At The Vortex album that was released in 1978 and also released a great single in that year and an excellent ep in 1979. After which Bernie went off to play Heavy Metal and become famous with Gillian and Ozzy. In 1981 he went back to his own solo career and that's where this live recording comes in. No Easy Way is my fave here and is the one that most sounds like something that was written by him in 1978. There's also a rather interesting version of Search and Destroy as well.

Dogmatics - WERS, Boston 4-03-84 + 4-21-85

The Dogmatics were Boston's unsung heroes who existed from 1981 to 1986 in a time when Punk and underground music was basically dominated by hardcore. They went right on doing what they were doing and released two albums and a couple singles. Sadly, they came to an end when one of their members died in a motorcycle accident. Both these shows are radio broadcasts and the quality is very good. From cassette tape.

Simple Minds/Johnny & The Self Abusers - Live + Demos

Johnny & The Self Abusers were from Glasgow Scotland and released one now classic single on the Chiswick label at the end of August 1977. By the time that single was released they decided to change their name to Simple Minds. Johnny & The Self Abusers only played a handful of gigs before the name change. In November 1977 they (as Simple Minds) recorded seven tracks from their Self Abusers set that only briefly saw the light of day on a 1998 CD which was withdrawn soon after release. After these recordings some members split off and formed The Cuban Heels. The rest of the Simple Minds carried on with additional members and a change in sound. In this 1979 live show they still play a few songs from their Johnny & The Self Abusers days. Excellent quality all around.

Nervous Eaters - WCOZ, Boston 7-23-78 + Demo

Here's a great live show from a  great band. Nervous Eaters at the time of this recording has 2 single out and were Boston favorites. They released one album in 1980 before disappearing from the scene. Before they got the record deal for the album they recorded a 10 song demo for the record company and I think the demo of Last Chance is one of those songs. The live show is a radio broadcast and is great quality as is the demo. From cassette tape.

04). Have It With Your Coffee

11). Fish

Demo:

Neighborhoods - Paradise, Boston 12-27-79

Before the Neighborhoods were famous they were just another band from Boston slugging it out in the clubs of that city. In 1979 they released a now classic single. Their next release wasn't until 5 years later. They eventually released 4 albums and one 12" ep. This live show was recorded not too long after their first single was released and both songs are played along with some that never got released at all. This is either a soundboard recording or radio broadcast and the quality is great.
