Sadistic Exploits - Collection 1981-1985

Sadistic Exploits were Philadelphia's favorite Punk citizens and were the ones who really got things rolling in that city by organizing several Punk festivals and other gigs starting in 1981. In that year they also released their only single, now a classic of the time. Unfortunately due to members coming and going they were never able to realize their full potential as the best band from Philly. In 1985 they were able to get one last song released on an impossible to find compilation LP. Collected here are the three songs they released plus a demo, rehearsal and an interview. More into here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadistic_Exploits

MC5 - New York City 1-70

The MC5 were sonic brilliance and here's another live show to prove it. It's a great recording from the soundboard but seems to have been left out of the release absolutely every recording by the MC5 boom that occurred 10 years ago. Don't know why, but here are three songs that were not released in their time including a more rocked up, less free-form, version of Black To Comm.

MC5 info here: http://makemyday.free.fr/mc5.htm

setlist: [from cassette tape]
01. Fire Of Love
02. Teenage Lust
03. It's A Man's Man's World
04. Black To Comm

Section 8 - demo (1982)

Section 8 were from Reno Nevada and were formed by Dim Menace (singer) and Tom Munist (drummer) in 1981. Both had previously been original members of the now legendary Seven Seconds and can be heard on that bands Drastic Measures demo tape from 1980. Sadly, the legacy they left the world was just one track released on the Not So Quiet On The Western Front compilation LP put together in 1982 by Maximum Rock 'n' Roll Magazine and released by Alternative Tentacles. That song is present here along with 5 other gems.

track list:
01. Trust Me
02. USSR
03. Mental Discharge
04. Guns
05. Fat, Drunk and Stupid
06. Who Will Fight For America

Zeros (UK) - John Peel Session 11-30-77

England's  Zeros only ever released one single on Small Wonder Records in 1977 and a split single on the ROK label before they disappeared. However, they were lucky enough to get to record a session for John Peel's radio show in 1977. One song from the single is played and the others remain unreleased. According to the Peel Sessions website they recorded 4 songs but my tape only has three. Anyone have the missing song "Solid State"? One can only dream what an album by these guys would have sounded like.

track list:
01. Nice Girls
02. Hungry
03. Easy Way Out

Subhumans (Canada) - Duncan's Pub, Reno Nevada 10-25-81

The classic lineup of the Canadian Subhumans did several U.S. tours but this show from Reno is the only recording to turn up so far. It's a short set of only 7 songs but it shows the band at the height of their prime. This is a rough audience recording and there is a clicking sound during Slave To My Dick, but such are the imperfections and limitations of audience recordings.

Setlist:
01. No Productivity
02. Moron Majority
03. Death To The Sickoids
04. Slave To My Dick
05. Screwed Up [Menace]
06. Inquisition Day
07. Fuck You

Joneses - T-Bird Rollerdrome, Pico Rivera CA 3-04-83

Here's an abbreviated live set by another classic KBD band recorded at the fabled T-Bird Rollardrome in Pico Rivera California. It's only 7 songs but you get the necessary classics plus their Elton John cover a Heartbreakers cover as well. The false start on Fix Me is due to stage invasion and electrical problems. This show is from the soundboard and sounds like a fantastic gig, shame we all couldn't have been there.

Setlist: [from cassette tape]
01. Criminal
02. Pill Box
03. Chicks And Politics
04. I Wanna Be Loved [Heartbreakers]
05. Fix Me (false start)
06. Fix Me
07. Graveyard Rock
08. Crocodile Rock [Elton John]

Pilsner - Single (1983) (w/Jerry Nolan)

Perhaps everyone know Jerry Nolan as the drummer for the New York Dolls and Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers, two legendary bands. But after those bands became extinct what happened to him. Apparently for most of the 1980s he and Thunders were living in Sweden. While there he got involved with a little known band named Pilsner and released this single. Mr. Nolan not only produced it but also sings on both songs and by the sound of it must have been involved in writing the lyrics and maybe the music. The style is definitely 1970s New York with plenty of street attitude. Wouldn't it be sweet to see this re-released with any bonus tracks that might exist. More info here: http://swedishpunk.com/bands.php?id=526

tracklist:
01. I Refuse (To Live In The USA)
02. Sleep With You
